The general index lost 0.36% or 21.46 points to reach 5,939.1 points.
The financial sector fell 0.95% due to a decline in Al Madina for Finance and Investment, and HSBC Oman by 6.06% and 4.66% in a row.
The industrial sector slid 0.02% as Al Hassan Engineering and Al Jazeera Steel Products levelled down 3% and 1.04%, respectively.
Turnover stood at OMR 4.77 million on Wednesday, compared to OMR 10.08 million on Tuesday.
Trading volume reached 24.4 million shares, compared to 52.58 million shares.
