Mubasher: The main index of the Muscat Securities Market (MSM) rose 0.19% or 10.43 points on Wednesday, closing at 5,553.52 points.
Seventeen shares pushed the index up, of which twelve were in the financial sector and four in the industry sector.
The financial sector rose 0.31% as Gulf Investment Services Holding Company increased 4.55%, Al Madina Investment Company rose 2.9%, and Ahli Bank gained 2.67%.
The industrial segment increased 0.24%, led by Asaffa Foods with 5.49%, Al Jazeera Steel Products Company with 3.85%, and Galfar Engineering and Contracting with 2.44%.
On the other hand, the services sector was the only loser, retreating 0.45% as Port Services Corporation dropped 9.69%, Oman Investment and Finance declined 8.7%, and Oman Telecommunications slid 1.06%.
Trading volume increased to 19.44 million shares on Wednesday against 18.66 million shares on Tuesday, while trading value declined to OMR 3.22 million against OMR 4.45 million.
