Ma'aden to start commercial run at gold mine 1 April

Riyadh-Mubasher: Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden) announced the beginning of commercial production at Ad Duwayhi mine on 1 April, according to a bourse filing.

The mine is operated by the company’s subsidiary Maaden Gold and Base Metals Company.

Ad Duwayhi has an estimated average annual production capacity of 180,000 ounces of gold over the mine’s lifespan.

The production capacity will gradually rise to reach 100% by the end of this year.

The mine had reserves of 1.9 million ounces of gold as at 31 December 2015.

The mine’s financial impact will be reflected in the company’s second-quarter financials.
