Dubai – Mubasher: Majid Al Futtaim has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to boost cooperation in sustainable development initiatives.
Under the new the partnership, Dubai-based shopping mall developer and UNEP are joining forces to ensure a sustainable future by concentrating on developing, implementing and monitoring collaborative activities in several areas including resource and energy efficiency, green building and construction, food waste, sustainability reporting and sustainable development.
"Today’s agreement is another significant milestone in our sustainability journey. We are committed to forming partnerships that support the reduction of climate change and safeguard the environment for future generations,” said Majid Al Futtaim Holding CEO Alan Bejjani.
UNEP must bolster collaboration with the private sector to make headway towards "our common cause and common interests," said Erik Solheim, UN under-secretary general and executive director of UNEP.
