Majid Al-Futtaim Group’s unit gets 2nd licence to operate cinema in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh – Mubasher: Vox Cinemas, a subsidiary of Majid Al-Futtaim Group, has announced obtaining the second licence to operate cinemas in Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi culture and information minister and chairman of the Saudi General Authority for Audiovisual Media, Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad, granted the licence to Majid Al-Futtaim Group’s unit.

Majid Al-Futtaim Group is investing SAR 2 billion in the cinema sector to inaugurate 600 screens over the coming five years, in addition to providing 3,000 job opportunities that is in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to diversify the economy and domestic production, the ministry added.

Vox Cinemas is considered the largest cinema operator in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and it is the first regional cinema operator in Saudi Arabia.

Majid Al-Futtaim Group plans to open its first cinema in the kingdom in the coming days at Riyadh Park.

Majid Al-Futtaim Group’s cinema will include four screens, the first IMAX screen for young people's movies, and VOX KIDS which will be allocated for to children’s entertainment.

The investments in the Saudi recreation sector are considered part of Saudi Vision 2030.
