Majid Al Futtaim to open Abu Dhabi's AED 300m mall in Q2-19

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Dubai-based developer Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) will open its first shopping mall in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, My City Centre Masdar.

The mall is scheduled to be opened in the second quarter of 2019 with a total cost of AED 300 million, Arabian Business reported on Wednesday.

“As we progress on developing our first mall in Abu Dhabi, My City Centre Masdar underscores Majid Al Futtaim’s commitment to the capital’s retail sector in line with Masdar City and the UAE’s long-term sustainability goals,” Ghaith Shocair, CEO of Shopping Malls at Majid Al Futtaim Properties, commented.

Located within the planned Masdar City transit network, the new mall will feature more than 70 stores across 18,500 square metres of gross leasable area, including a 7,000 square metres Carrefour Hypermarket and a variety of dining options, according to Arabian Business.

“Masdar City is growing at an unprecedented rate and is a community that is now home to more than 600 hundred businesses and thousands of residents, with new offices, homes and leisure facilities all currently under development,” Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar, said.
