Riyadh - Mubasher: The Saudi government is currently working on several mega projects in the governorates of Taif, Mawiyyah, and Meesan, which are part of the Makkah province.
These projects cost a combined value of SAR 14.6 billion ($3.89 billion), Saudi Gazette reported citing Makkah’s Prince Khaled Al-Faisal as saying.
Taif alone will see SAR 11 billion in new projects, Al-Faisal revealed, noting that the government was carrying out SAR 899 million in new roads, SAR 1.8 billion in water projects, added to SAR 1.4 billion in electricity projects.
Meanwhile, health and education projects in Taif amount to SAR 500 million and SAR 100 million, respectively, according to the top official.
Speaking on the sidelines of his first event to chair the newly-constituted local councils of the three governorates in Taif on Tuesday, the prince further revealed that projects included the new Taif International Airport, Okaz City, Technology Oasis, a residential suburb, an industrial city and a university city.
On Monday, Prince Khaled inaugurated the first phase of the solar power plant in the Taif’s Technological Oasis.
The prince conducted a two-day tour in Taif, where he launched a 40-shop commercial centre for female students at Taif university, along with a recreational facility, as well as a Unified Centre for Services, which will house the governorate, police, and municipality buildings.
