Many Arabs prefer UAE, Saudi as travel destinations – Report

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia and the UAE have ranked among the top holiday destinations for Arab travellers in 2017, according to Hotels.com’s Hotel Price Index (HPI) report released on Wednesday.

Turkey came first as the most popular holiday destination for Arabs, followed by the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Thailand, and the US, the report showed.

“Although hotel prices rose for travellers globally in 2017, Arab travellers enjoyed great value for money in the UAE, KSA Thailand and USA – due to the decrease in daily room rates in these destinations,” said vice president – Europe, Middle East, and Africa – Hotels.com Isabelle Pinson.

Accommodation prices in the UAE and Saudi Arabia declined 4% and 9%, respectively, the report found.

"The slight increase in average accommodation prices globally combined with numerous markets having record visitor growth, signals a strong travel economy and a growing desire from consumers to experience the world,” Hotels.com’s President Johan Svanstrom commented.
