Marriott International eyes opening 20 properties in UAE by 2023

Dubai – Mubasher: Marriott International on Wednesday revealed that it is looking to expand in the UAE by adding 11 properties by the end of 2018, with a robust development outlook over the next five years.

The hospitality group has established six new properties with plans to launch five more in the GCC country.

As a result, the company’s portfolio in the UAE will increase to 59 properties with a total number of 17,000 rooms.

“Our success in the Middle East stems from our long-established presence in the market and the value we deliver to our owner-partners,” Arne Sorenson, president and CEO, Marriott International, said.

Moreover, the American multinational diversified hospitality firm seeks to launch more than 20 properties within the coming five years, with expectations of creating 5,000 new jobs in the country.  

“We are privileged to have the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing growth and diversification of the UAE’s economy and remain committed to supporting the direction of its visionary leaders to further enhance the tourism sector,” Sorenson added.

It is worth noting that Marriott operates three branded residential properties, including the Bulgari Residences in Dubai, and anticipates to more than double its residential portfolio in the region with eight projects scheduled to open by 2022 across the Middle East and Africa.
