Masdar forms new JV to strengthen foothold in Europe

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Masdar Clean Energy and Finland’s Taaleri Energia has signed an agreement to create a joint venture (JV) aimed at developing renewable energy projects in Central and Eastern Europe.

The new JV will add to the company’s collaboration in the Western Balkans, allowing for more cooperation in the development of onshore wind and solar photovoltaic projects, according to a company statement.

“We are proud to build on the experiences gained through our strong collaboration, to help countries in Central and Eastern Europe meet their renewable energy goals,” Masdar Bader Clean Energy’s executive director Bader Al Lamki said.

The Taaleri Energia SolarWind I fund and Masdar have collaborated in the Cibuk 1, 158 megawatts wind farm in Serbia, and in the Baynouna Solar Energy Company, which is constructing a 248 MWp solar photovoltaic plant in Jordan.

“We are pleased to build upon our successful experience of investing in Serbia alongside a highly-professional, world-class partner such as Masdar,” Taaleri’s deputy CEO Karri Haaparinne commented.
