Dubai - Mubasher: Mashreq Bank has inaugurated its first representative office in Shanghai as part of the bank's strategic plan to expand its services in China.
The bank's new representative office will serve as a liaison office to strengthen trade and investment flows between the Middle East and China, according to a press release on Tuesday.
Mashreq Bank will also help Chinese enterprises looking to launch operations across the bank's existing international banking footprint.
The Group CEO of Mashreq Bank, Ahmed Abdelaal, said: "Most importantly, the office enables us to leverage our insights of the MENA region for our stakeholders, as well as provide invaluable on-the-ground knowledge of China’s economic and banking landscape."
Meanwhile, the Senior Executive Vice President and Head of the International Banking Group of Mashreq Bank, Tarek El Nahas, commented: "As China continues to shape the global trade map, corporates and financial institutions are adapting and repositioning themselves in order to leverage the evolving growth opportunities."
