Mastercard, UAE's Hub71 sign MoU to support fintech startups

UAE – Mubasher: Mastercard and Abu Dhabi-based Hub71, an ecosystem designed for fintech startups and technology companies, have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Under the agreement, startups will be brought together through Mastercard’s startup engagement programme "Start Path" to share their experiences and have access to regional and global markets, according to a press release on Sunday

The MoU will foster innovation in the UAE's fintech startup community.

The senior vice-president of digital payments and labs at Mastercard Middle East and Africa, Gaurang Shah, said: "The Start Path programme is our global initiative that engages with the best and brightest later stage startups. Mastercard is keen to work with Hub71’s global community of innovators, to support them early on and throughout their journey.”

Interim CEO of Hub71 and Head of Ventures, Mubadala Investment Company, Ibrahim Ajami, remarked: "We will develop a unique mentorship program for Hub71’s fintech startups that helps them tap into both regional and global market opportunities, as well as technical and industry insights."
