Mauritania on Tuesday severed diplomatic ties with Qatar after accusing it of supporting terrorism, Reuters reported, citing Mauritania's state news agency.
Mauritania’s move comes after Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and the UAE announced cutting diplomatic relations with Qatar over allegations it supports terrorists.
"The state of Qatar has linked its policies ... in support of terrorist organizations and the propagation of extremist ideas," the Mauritanian ministry of foreign affairs said in a statement, adding “This has resulted in heavy losses to human life in these Arab countries, in Europe and throughout the world”.
