Dubai - Mubasher: DP World’s Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) on Tuesday announced that Maysun Solar would set up a manufacturing facility in the UAE-based free zone.
Maysun Solar manufactures 5,000 solar panels monthly with an electricity generating capacity of 40 megawatts (MWs), according to a company statement.
The company gave no further details about the cost of the project.
“This project represents another step towards transforming UAE leaders' vision into reality and integrating with the DP World Solar Programme, the largest and most ambitious roof-top solar energy project in the Middle East,” said Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, DP World’s group chairman and CEO.
Maysun Solar is planning to increase its production capacity to 200 MWs over the next three years, the company revealed.
"We intend to transfer all our operations and investments to Jafza over the coming years, raising investment in Dubai from $5 million to $10 million,” Sai Xuezhao, Maysun Solar’s general manager commented.
