Meraas launches The Yard in Dubai

Dubai – Mubasher: Meraas Holding has unveiled its new destination “The Yard” in Dubai, Al Khawaneej area, which embraces Last Exit D89, launched in 2017 as an initial phase.

The Yard is a 350,000-square-foot extension, which has been inaugurated to the public on 25 January 2018 and will eventually grow into a 2.8 million-square-foot urban destination, Meraas highlighted in a statement.

The Dubai-based company noted that a rustic courtyard, an organic farmer’s market, a bakery, air-conditioned and open-air restaurants and dining spaces, a unique mix of shops, a lake with two bridges spanning it, shaded walking trails and expansive landscaped picnic areas were recently added to The Yard

“The Yard reflects Meraas’s strong commitment to create imaginative and exciting family-friendly destinations that provide opportunities for Dubai’s residents and visitors to share unforgettable experiences,” architect at Meraas Nouf AlMheiri said.

“In line with our vision of connecting communities through the many sectors that we operate in, the destination’s offerings seek to enhance people’s happiness and sense of belonging,” she continued

The Yard has a “distinctive visual identity” that mixes between rural farm environments and urbanisation which provide an ideal backdrop for photographs.

The new destination also comprises an 18-metre-tall windmill, a water mill, a wishing well, decorative vintage pick-up trucks, farm animals and bird houses.
