Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum spokesperson said on Saturday that Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) didn’t receive an official letter from Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Aramco) regarding suspending the delivery of the agreed oil shipments.
Aramco’s allocations represent a part of Egypt’s oil needs, the ministry’s spokesperson Hamdy Abdelaziz explained, adding that the country usually holds tenders to import petroleum products to meet the local demand.
Egypt has not received October allocations of petroleum from Saudi Arabia, traders told Reuters, despite a previous agreement to provide Egypt with 700,000 tonnes of refined oil products per month for five years under a $23 billion deal between Saudi Aramco and EGPC.
EGPC will continue the importing tenders to secure the country’s strategic reserve of petroleum products before as winter begins, and consumption levels usually arise, added Abdelaziz.
