Ministry of Housing to implement 200 projects worth EGP 16.7bn - Madbouly

Cairo – Mubasher: Minister of Housing and Urban Communities Mostafa Madboluy said that 200 projects of drinking water and sanitation worth EGP 16.7 billion will be implemented in 22 governorates during the current fiscal year 2017/2018.

The first undersecretary of the Housing ministry and supervisor of utilities sector Randa Elmenshawy stated that the projects include 33 drinking water projects, with a production capacity of 619,600 cubic metres per day, at a value of EGP 5.6 billion

Sanitation projects for the cities with absorbing capacity of 726,000 cubic metres per day, worth EGP 5.44 billion, and 132 projects for sanitation in villages at a value of EGP 6.18 billion, Elmenshawy added.

Gharbia, Monufia, Kafr El Sheikh, Sharqia, Dakahlia, and Assiut governorates include most of the project, the chairman of Egypt’s drinking water and sanitation Sayed Alashry said.

Damietta governorate has seven sanitation projects worth EGP 117 million, and Dakahlia includes four projects for drinking water with a capacity of 20,000 cubic metres daily at a value of EGP 763 million, Alashry added.

Dakahlia also has two projects of sanitation of cities with absorbing capacity of 90,000 cubic metres per day at a value of EGP 570 million, and ten projects for villages’ sanitation worth EGP 287 million.

In Sharqia, there are 15 projects for cities’ sanitation at a value of EGP 52 million, and 14 for villages’ worth EGP 239.9 million.

Kafr El Sheikh drinking water projects amounted to 24 worth EGP 20 million, five projects of cities’ sanitation with capacity of 15,000 cubic metres daily at a value of EGP 49 million, and 18 for villages with a cost of EGP 222.6 million.

Gharbia’s projects of drinking water are two with a production capacity of 94,000 cubic metres per day, with a cost of EGP 562 million, and 22 for villages’ sanitation at a value of EGP 281.5 million.

Monufia includes two projects of drinking water with capacity of 50,000 cubic metres per day, worth EGP 585 million, one project for cities’ sanitation with absorbing capacity of 20,000 cubic metres daily, at a value of EGP 55 million, 28 projects for villages’ sanitation at EGP 500 million.

Beheira has one project for drinking water with a production capacity of 10,000 cubic metres, worth EGP 60 million.

Ismaili’s drinking water projects are two with production capacity of 68,000 cubic metres per day, at a value of EGP 22 million, four for villages’ sanitation worth EGP 154.7 million.

Suez includes three project for cities’ sanitation with absorbing capacity of 45,000 cubic metres per day, and its cost is EGP 270 million.

Faiyum has two projects for villages’ sanitation at EGP 49 million, Beni Seuf and Minya include four, and seven projects, respectively.

Assiut has three projects for drinking water with a production capacity of 16,000 cubic metres per day at a value of EGP 583 million, six for cities’ sanitation with absorbing capacity of 221,000 cubic metres daily, worth EGP 522 million.

Assiut includes 13 projects for villages’ sanitation with a cost of EGP 390 million.

Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, Red Sea, Marsa Matrouh, North Sinai, and New Valley governorates include 11, five, two, three, two, three, five, and five projects, respectively.
