MoF: Treasury bond returns fluctate on Sunday

Cairo - Mubasher: The Return on the Egyptian government’s treasury bills varied on Sunday’s auction, according to date released by the Egyptian Ministry of Finance (MoF).

The MoF sold bonds worth EGP 11.25 billion, the return on the EGP 5.75 billion bills set to mature in 91 days declined to 14.507% from 14.774 % in the last auction.

Meanwhile, the return on the EGP 5.5 billion bills set to mature in 266 days increased to 16.415% from 16.394% last week, according to the ministry's website.

On 22 September, Egypt's Central Bank (CBE) maintained the interest rates steady, contrary to analysts’ expectations.

Egypt's local debt reached EGP 2.49 trillion by March 2016, while external debt stood at $53.4 billion by the third quarter of FY2015-16, according to the Central Bank of Egypt’s (CBE) database.
