Dubai – Mubasher: Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Investment Company has renewed its partnership with Boeing to keep on the highly successful joint-internship programme while addressing the growing UAE aerospace industry.
Founded in 2015, the programme aims to boost the capabilities and skills of the UAE’s future workforce, enabling them to guarantee a successful career in aviation and aerospace, said a press release on Thursday.
Through the 18- week programme, undergraduate Emirati engineering students will enjoy an experiential learning opportunity at Boeing facilities in the US, explore exciting career options, and take part in professional development activities while broadening their Boeing and aerospace engineering.
The students will be further introduced to the fields of fabrication, manufacturing engineering, liaison engineering, and Industrial Engineering modules.
This programme has seen a positive impact from 40 Emirati candidates, as several graduates had managed to have secured jobs at wholly-owned Mubadala companies such as Strata Manufacturing, Sanad Aerotech, and Yahsat, stressing on Mubadala’s goal to position Abu Dhabi as a global aerospace hub while expanding manufacturing output volumes.
“Boeing is a long-term strategic partner and we are proud to collaborate with them once again on this important programme. In order to continue the development of the UAE’s aerospace industry, it is essential we invest in our most valuable asset – our youth– to build the future generation of aerospace professionals who will continue building the sector in the UAE,” head of Mubadala Aerospace, Badr Al Olama, said.
Meanwhile, president of Boeing Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey, Bernard Dunn, added, “The Boeing-Mubadala Co-Op internship program provides valuable aerospace engineering expertise, bolstering the UAE’s aeronautical capabilities. The students that graduated from this programme have shown great initiative, knowledge and skills and we look forward to welcoming the next cohort.”
It is worth remarking that Mubadala-Boeing partnership began in 2009 in the areas of strategic alignment, notably composites manufacturing; it is advancing now with Strata being a Tier 1 supplier to Mubadala on major components used in empennage production.
