Mubasher: 21st Century Fox would never be interested in acquiring CNN, according to executive chair Lachlan Murdoch, the son of Chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch.
Lachlan Murdoch remarks were made at the Business Insider Ignition Conference in New York, and were reported by Reuters.
AT&T has been pursuing the acquisition of Time Warner, the parent company of Cable News Network (CNN), however, the US Department of Justice is objecting the transaction and has filed a suit to block the $85.4 billion deal over antitrust concerns about the merged company owning too much content and distribution.
The DOJ has reportedly asked that CNN be sold to another owner before the deal is completed. It was then reported that Murdoch has contacted the CEO of AT&T to discuss a possible acquisition of CNN.
