Muscat bourse closes 0.14% down

Mubasher: The Muscat Securities Market ended Tuesday’s trading on a negative note as its benchmark MSM 30 dropped 0.14% or 8.3 points to the level of 5,771.3 points.

Trading volume decreased to 8.65 million shares from 13.53 million shares exchanged on Monday, turnover also declined to OMR 2.25 million from OMR 3.11 million.

The index was pressured by the fall in Oman and Emirates Investment Holding, which led the red list with a 2.92% decrease.

The industrial, financial and services sectors dropped collectively by 0.35%, 0.32% and 0.12% respectively.

Oman United Insurance and Al Sharqiya Investment Holding also fell by 1.69% and 1.53% respectively. Meanwhile, Ominvest and Phoenix Power grew by 1.45% and 0.69% respectively.  

Areej Vegetable Oils and Derivatives topped gainers by adding 10.2%.

Ominvest led today’s trading activity with a volume of 1.13 million shares exchanged at OMR 6287,940.
