Mubasher: The benchmark MSM 30 of Muscat Securities Market closed Monday’s trading falling 0.48% or 28 points to the level of 5,843.77 points.
The market capitalisation declined by about OAR 23.77 million ($61.52 million) to OAR 17.09 billion.
Trading volume decreased to 13.08 million shares from 18.8 million shares exchanged on Sunday, turnover also shrank to OMR 2.85 million from OMR 4.6 million.
The bourse’s sectors declined collectively, topped by the financial sector with a fall of 0.68%, pressured by the drop in Bank Nizwa and Bank Dhofar by 2.6% and 2.49% respectively.
The industrial and services sectors retreated by 0.31% and 0.03% respectively.
Al Jazeera Steel Products was the most active stock with a trading volume of 2.14 million shares, whereas Bank Muscat made the highest liquidity of OMR 680,630.
Al Jazeera Services topped gainers by adding 3.77%, while Construction Material Industry led decliners with a fall of 3.23%.
