Muscat’s securities shed 27 points at close

Mubasher: The Muscat Securities Market (MSM) closed Wednesday in negative territory, as the main index, MSM 30, declined 0.49% or 26.56 points to 5,390.52 points, and the Sharia Index fell 0.16% to 857 points.

Trading value reached OMR 1.78 million through 402 trades on 10.09 million shares.

The market’s value rose 0.32% to OMR 15.83 billion, versus OMR 15.78 billion yesterday.

Non-Omani investors bought shares valued at OMR 230,000 and made sale transactions estimated at OMR 452,000.

The financial and services sectors edged lower 0.82% and 0.67% respectively, while the industrial sector moved up 0.23%.

Out of 37 companies saw trading, four shares ended stronger, 16 dropped and the remaining 17 were flat.

Al Jazeera steel was the best performer with a growth of 2.86%, while Acwa Power was the top decliner after diving 9.84%.

Nizwa Bank was the most active in terms of volume and value after 4.3 million shares were traded at OMR 306,900.
