NBAD OGM to discuss name change late April

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The ordinary general meeting (OGM) of the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) is scheduled to convene on Monday, 24 April, to discuss changing the bank’s name to First Abu Dhabi Bank.

The OGM is will also discuss amending Article 2 of the bank’s Articles of Association in accordance with the name change, NBAD said in a filing to the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) on Sunday.

The bank’s board had recommended a name change of the Abu Dhabi-listed bank following its merger with First Gulf Bank, and proposed naming the new entity “First Abu Dhabi Bank”.

In the event of a lack of quorum, a second date on Monday, 1 May, has been scheduled for the OGM to meet again.

The merger will take 18 to 24 months to be completed, NBAD said in a previous bourse filing.

The merger between the two Abu Dhabi banks resulted in creating one of the largest banks in the region with over AED 670 billion ($183 billion) in assets.
