Cairo – Mubasher: Retail credit facilities provided by the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) grew by 20% during the first seven months of fiscal year 2019/2020, the lender’s chairman and managing director Hisham Okasha said.
Retail loans extended by the Egyptian state-run bank recorded EGP 92 billion during the seven-month period ended 31 January 2020, compared to EGP 72 billion at the end of June 2019, Okasha revealed on the sidelines of a conference on Sunday.
Over the six-month period ended 31 December, personal loans hiked significantly, while loans to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) amounted to EGP 55 billion.
