NMC seeks acquisition of Saudi medical facilities

Riyadh – Mubasher: NMC Health Plc is seeking to acquire hospitals and other medical facilities in Saudi Arabia.

The firm’s chairman, Bavaguthu Raghuram Shetty, added to Bloomberg that his company’s market capital is almost $6 billion and is interested in the bidding process for the healthcare unit of the Saudi Arabian Airlines, known as Saudia.

“I’m interested,” Shetty told Bloomberg, adding: “Whenever there is a chance, I’ll go. We have surplus funding, no problem.”

NMC is the biggest privately owned healthcare company in the UAE and is listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE).

Saudi Arabia is seeking privatising all industries as part of reforms to become less dependent on oil while reducing state spending and narrowing the fiscal deficit, the agency said.
