NTRA accepts $1.17bn bids for additional mobile spectrum

Cairo – Mubasher: The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) announced the final results of the tender for the 2,600 megahertz (MHz) time division duplex (TDD) spectrum.

The first phase of the tender included two bandwidths; the first one is 2x20 MHz TDD band acquired by Vodafone Egypt for $540 million and the second is 2x10 MHz TDD band purchased by Telecom Egypt for $305 million, according to a statement on Wednesday. 

The second phase included 2x10 MHz band won by Etisalat Misr for $325 million.

The total value of bids accepted by NTRA amounted to $1.170 billion for the 2,600 MHz spectrum.
