Nakheel begins construction of AED 176m Dragon City hotel

Dubai – Mubasher: Property developer Nakheel on Monday announced commencing construction operations on a new hotel worth AED 176 million in Dragon City.

This step is one of many as part of the Dubai-based developer's expansion plans in the hospitality sector, according to a statement.

Two weeks ago, Nakheel awarded an AED 136 million contract to Al Ghurair Contracting and Engineering Works Company to build the Premier Inn hotel.

Premier Inn is the property developer’s second hotel situated in Nakheel's Dragon City after the 251-room Styles hotel, opened in October, the release showed.

The hotel, which is also Nakheel’s second hotel managed by the UK hospitality group Whitbread under the brand of Premier Inn, is the latest project in the company’s hospitality expansion budget of AED 5 billion.

The project is in line with the Dubai government’s 2021 vision, and strengthens the company’s relationships with Whitbread, Nakheel’s chairman Ali Rashid Lootah said.

Lootah added that the hotel is part of the wider plan of transforming the area into a giant retail destination, noting that Nakheel’s expansion plan includes building 18 hotels and serviced apartment complexes with over 5,800 rooms in Dubai.
