Nasdaq Dubai to initiate trading on MSCI UAE equity index

Dubai – Mubasher: Nasdaq Dubai has reportedly launched the trading in futures on the MSCI UAE equity index on 15 January 2019, according to a report released on Wednesday.

The new step will open a route that enables investors to be exposed to the performance of the Emirati companies.

“Launching contracts on MSCI’s highly respected UAE equity index is an important step in the rapid expansion of Nasdaq Dubai’s equity derivatives market,” Nasdaq Dubai’s CEO Hamed Ali commented.

The new futures will be launched under a licence agreement agreed in 2017, which enables Nasdaq Dubai to launch futures and options in due course on MSCI indices of a group of GCC and regional equity markets, the statement said.

“The ability for local and global institutional investors to access the equity markets through financial instruments continues to grow and we look forward to working with Nasdaq Dubai as these needs evolve,” executive director - head of the Middle East of MSCI - Robert Ansari noted.
