Nestlé Waters contributes to environment protection efforts

Dubai – Mubasher: Nestlé Waters has announced the collaboration with Neutral Fuels to provide its Dubai truck fleet with a blend of 80% fossil diesel and 20% biodiesel, produced from used cooking oil.

The six-month test phase of the agreement is aimed at the elimination of 30 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions from the air, with reductions of 300 tonnes of CO2eq emissions per year expected following the use of the new blend, according to a company statement.

“This is the first time we use a biodiesel blend in our region, as we continue to investigate new alternative solutions to further reduce our environmental impact,” said Marco Banchelli, regional supply chain manager at Nestlé Waters, commented.

Neutral Fuels collects used cooking oil from across the UAE and transforms it into biodiesel.

“This is an excellent example of a forward-thinking company taking yet another step towards reducing its carbon footprint by using our ultra-low carbon, clean, green fuel,” Neutral Fuels’ CEO Karl W. Feilder said.
