Nestlé inks deals to install solar PV panels in Dubai

Dubai – Mubasher: Nestlé, the Swiss large food and beverage company, revealed that it had signed agreements with ALEC Energy and Yellow Door Energy to install solar photovoltaic (PV) panels on three manufacturing sites in Dubai.

Under the concluded contracts, both energy companies will install, operate and maintain over seven megawatts (MWs) of solar power at Nestlé Middle East Manufacturing in Dubai South, Nestlé Dubai Manufacturing, and the Nestlé Waters factory at National Industries Park.

The lease-to-own scheme enables Nestlé to benefit from solar power without incurring upfront capital investment, Nestlé said in a statement.

“One of our commitments to society in the Middle East is to provide climate change leadership and promote resources efficiency, which will be further met as our factories in Dubai soon significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, said Yves Manghardt, Nestlé Middle East’s chairman and CEO.

The project, which was launched in line with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) Shams Dubai initiative, is planned to contribute to the reduction of six million kilograms of CO2 emission annually.
