Cairo – Mubasher: New Aswan’s free zone approved by the Egyptian cabinet will comprise 160 projects with investments valued at $2.3 billion, the country’s investment and international cooperation minister said.
The free zone is expected to achieve $1.1 billion as added value to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) which will drive foreign exports higher by $675 billion on an annual basis, Sahar Nasr added in a statement on Thursday.
Spanning over 187 feddans (acres) in the logistic area near Cairo/Assiut/Aswan Western Road, the new project will lure local and foreign investments and will see the launch of many investment projects including processing, drying, and packing of agricultural crops.
