Mubasher: The Omani ministry of awqaf and religious affairs (MERA) announced that Monday will be a public holiday as it will be the first day of Muharram, and the Islamic new year.
This comes after the moon was not sighted on Saturday, according to the ministry.
The first day of the Islamic new year is an official holiday for the Omani ministry, public authority and other government sector employees.
