Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Younis Al Khouri, undersecretary at the finance ministry, expects the value-added tax (VAT) and selective tax laws to be issued in September, according to Al Bayan newspaper.
The minister submitted the tax draft laws to the UAE Cabinet, Al Khouri added.
The selective tax will be imposed on three categories of goods harmful to human health and the environment, Al Khouri noted, adding that a 100% tax will be imposed on tobacco products and energy drinks, and a 50% tax on soft drinks.
