Dubai - Mubasher: Nikken Sekkei has revealed that it will display multi-billion dollar local, regional and international projects including the world’s tallest wooden tower at Cityscape Global.
The mega real estate event will be run during the period between 2-4 October at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Nikken’s W350, which costs $5.5 billion, will be one of the most important projects that will be offered during the three-day event, the leading Japanese architectural and urban design firm noted.
The mixed-use design tower will be home to the tallest wooden skyscraper in the world and is set to be built in Tokyo, Japan.
The length of the 70-story tower extends to 350 metres, which is nearly four times higher than the existing record holder for a timber structure, according to Nikken’s recent statement.
The tower will be made almost entirely of timber, employing 185,000 cubic metres of wood to construct 90% of the structure and will adopt a braced tube design with columns and beams made from steel and wood.
The mixed-use development consists of commercial offices, residential apartments, a hotel, retail outlets, water features and a roof garden, the statement showed.
“Our vision for this structure was to contribute positively towards turning Tokyo into a more environment-friendly city and to support its transformation into an urban forest. The greenery which cascades down the full length of the building, affords an organic aspect, as plants adapt in terms of daylight hours, temperature and altitude,” Fadi Jabri, CEO and Principal responsible for MENA, CIS and India regions, said.
