Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has no intention to issue notes worth EGP 500 or EGP 1000, deputy governor Gamal Negm said.
The central bank does not plan to conduct any studies in this regard, Negm told reporters during the green banking conference on Thursday.
As for foreign holdings of Egypt’s treasury bills (T-bills), he highlighted that the local market is more stable than many countries, pointing out that the North African nation is one of the most attractive countries for investments.
The CBE is currently studying the new banking law, he noted, stressing that the mortgage finance initiative has EGP 14 billion in funds now.
