Non-oil sector in Bahrain rises 4.2% in 9M

Mubasher: Growth of non-oil sector in Bahrain was reported at 3.3% in the third quarter of 2015, and stood at 4.2% for the first nine months, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) said.

Bahrain’s overall growth in the economy reached 2.4% in Q3 and 3% over the first three quarters in 2015; the growth was driven by the continued resilience of the non-oil sector, BNA cited data from Bahrain Economic Quarterly (BEQ) issued by the Economic Development Board (EDB).

Total number of private sector jobs increased 7% in Q3 on an annual basis, while the country’s overall unemployment declined to its lowest level in several years as it held steady at 3.1% in Q3.

The infrastructure sector showed that nearly $6 billion were allocated for projects, $3.7 billion tendered, and $1.3 billion commenced to date.

Also, bank credit continued to increase at a “brisk pace” with total bank credit rising 7% by the end of Q3.
