Number of British firms ready to invest in Egypt’s transport sector – UK Ambassador

Cairo – Mubasher: The British Ambassador to Egypt John Casson said that a large number of British firms are willing to invest in Egypt’s transport sector, in addition to the UK’s readiness to transfer its British experience in development operations.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian transport minister Hisham Arafat referred to the investment opportunities in Egypt’s railway, as well as in the Maritime Transport Sector (MTI), including Alexandria’s and Damietta’s ports.

Egyptian ports will be linked with logistic zones to move part of the ports’ activities to these zones to create real job opportunities and achieve sustainable development, Arafat noted.

This came on the sidelines of the minister’s meeting with the British Ambassador to Egypt, UK trade envoy to Egypt Jeffrey Donaldson, and a delegation of a number of British firms to discuss investment opportunities in the Egyptian market.

During this meeting, the minister stressed on the necessity of applying the intelligent transportation system (ITS) to guarantee roads’ safety in Egypt.
