OPEC forecasts demand hike in 2017

Mubasher: The members of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) expect an increase in the demand on their products next year, according to OPEC's annual report which was published on Tuesday.

According to the report, demand is expected to rise to 33 million barrels per day in 2017, increasing by around 300,000 barrels per day compared to levels recorded this year.

Demand is expected to continue the rising trend and to reach 33.7 million barrels per day in 2019, with a rise of one million barrels per day to its levels in 2016, the report indicated.

The international organization raised its expectations for global demand in the foreseeable future, forecasting consumption of crude oil to reach 95.3 million barrels per day by 2017.
