Dubai – Mubasher: Hotel occupancy rates in the emirate of Dubai dropped to 60.9% in May, compared to 77.3% in the year-ago period.
The average daily room rate (ADR) declined 0.7% to $236 in May versus $238 a year earlier, according to the MENA hotel benchmark report by global consultancy Ernst & Young (EY).
This fall led to a 21.7% year-on-year drop in revenue per available room (RevPAR) to $144 during the period.
Meanwhile, in Abu Dhabi, the occupancy rate jumped to 76.6% in May, while ADR decreased by 11.8% year-on-year in the same period.
The UAE’s capital kept a RevPAR of $68 in May, the report found.
