Mubasher: Total assets of Omani commercial banks rose 15.1% to OMR 28.5 billion in November 2015, versus OMR 24.7 billion in the same month of 2014, the Central Bank of Oman reported on Sunday.
Credit, constituting 64.6% of the total assets, grew 9.3% year-on-year to OMR 18.4 billion last November. Credit to private sector rose by 10.3% to OMR 16.2.
Commercial bank’s investments in securities increased 3.4% to OMR 2.9 billion by the end of November 2015, versus OMR 2.8 billion in November 2014.
Oman's commercial banks’ investments in government development bonds soared 79% to OMR 831.5 million in the first 11 months of 2015, while their investments in foreign securities leapt 10.2% to OMR 776.4 million in the same period.
