Oman halts Boeing 737 MAX flights on Ethiopian crash

Mubasher: Oman on Tuesday announced halting flights by Boeing 737 MAX jets at its airports following the second disaster of that aircraft model in less than six months.

The sultanate is the first Gulf nation to ban flights by the aircraft after the crash of a Boeing 737 MAX Ethiopia Airlines plane on Sunday, killing all 157 people on board, Arabian Business reported.

China, Indonesia, and Ethiopia grounded their fleets of Boeing’s 737 MAX 8 aircraft on Monday, while the UK decided on Tuesday to ban flights by that aircraft model over its airspace.

The UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) announced joining the investigation into the Ethiopian Airlines crash and pledged to take “any necessary safety action in a timely manner,” Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported, citing GCAA’s statement.
