Oman inflation up 2.82% in March

Mubasher: Oman’s inflation rate rose 2.82% in March on an annual basis, according to data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) on consumer price indices.

The inflation rate increased 0.11% month-on-month in March 2017, the report showed.

The NCSI attributed the annual rise in inflation to the increase in the prices of housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels by 2.19%, and transport prices by 10.83%.

Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages rose 0.36%, while clothing and footwear edged up 0.01% during the period.

On the other hand, telecoms dropped 3.02% and health fell 0.13%.

Oman had previously reported an increase in inflation by 2.38% in February 2017 on an annual basis and 0.51% on a monthly basis.
