Oman’s Salamair eyes launching flights to 3 GCC cities

Mubasher: Omani carrier Salamair has revealed plans to launch flights to three cities across the GCC from Salalah airport in the coming period.

Salamair will begin flights to Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, and Riyadh after it holds discussions with regulatory authorities and shareholders, CEO Mohamed Ahmed said, according to Arabian Business.

“Salalah has the potential of being our hub, it will enable us to take major strides to further expand our operations and network,” Ahmed added.

The CEO further explained that this move would contribute to achieving a major part of Oman’s economic diversification plan, as well as boost the tourism, aviation, and logistics industries.

The low-cost carrier also said it may connect Salalah to India soon.

Currently operating 21 direct flights from Muscat to Salalah on a weekly basis, transferring 1.4 million passengers, the Omani carrier plans to add another five Airbus A320neo jets during the first half of 2019.

Salamair’s portfolio includes various destinations such as Muscat, Salalah, Sohar, Alexandria, Dhaka, Khartoum, Kathmandu, Shiraz, Sialkot, Doha, Jeddah, Dubai, Karachi, and Multan.
