Mubasher: Oman’s consumer price index (CPI) rose last March by 0.11% year-on-year and declined 0.31% month-on-month, according to Oman News Agency citing a report issued Sunday by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The report attributed the y/y rise to the increasing prices of most of the leading groups as housing, water, electricity and fuels group leapt 0.44% and transportation group grew 1.31%.
Also, prices of furnishing, household appliances and maintenance, education, and health groups increased by 0.8%, 3.03% and 1.46% respectively.
On the other hand, prices of foodstuff and non-alcoholic beverages group shrank 1.38%, followed by clothing and footwear group (-0.34%), communications (-0.12%), recreation and culture (-0.24%) and goods and miscellaneous services (-0.06%).
On a monthly basis, the Sultanate’s CPI fell 0.31% due to the increasing prices in prices of foodstuff and non-alcoholic beverages group (-0.46%), transportation group (-1.02%) and clothing and footwear group (-0.38%).
However, prices of housing, water, electricity and fuels, furnishing, household appliances and maintenance and goods and miscellaneous services rose by 0.01%, 0.33% and 0.04% respectively.
