Oman’s inflation rises 0.43% in March

Mubasher: The inflation in the Sultanate of Oman grew 0.43% in March, compared to the year-ago period, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

This increase stemmed from the rise in the prices of food & non-alcoholic beverages, restaurants & hotels, clothing & footwear group, education, and culture & entertainment by 2.26%, 0.24%, 0.04, 2.02, and 0.34%, respectively, against a year earlier. 

Year-on-year, the prices of transport, miscellaneous goods & services, telecom, and health went down 0.93%, 2.26%, 0.38%, and 0.49%, respectively, the NCSI’s data showed.

The Omani Consumer Price Index (CPI) inched down 0.04% in March, compared to the month before.

The IMF said that the Omani economy was recovering, given the increase in the growth rate of the country’s non-hydrocarbon GDP and the decline in the fiscal deficit.
