Oman's oil & gas marketing sector sees higher Q3 profit

Mubasher: Oman's oil and gas marketing sector recorded a 4.2% increase in its profits for the third quarter of 2016, according to data issued by Oman bourse.

The results of five oil and gas firms listed in Muscat Security Market (MSM) revealed that the sector achieved OMR 11.2 million ($28.9 million) in Q3, compared with OMR 10.7 million ($27.8 million) for the year-ago period.

Over the first nine months, profits rose 5.45% year-on-year to OMR 31.43 million from OMR 29.8 million.

Shell Oman Marketing was the most profitable company after respectively registering OMR 3.24 million and OMR 12.05 million during the third quarter and the first nine months of 2016.

Meanwhile, Muscat Gases was the least profitable company after earning OMR 152,000 and OMR 645,700 over the third quarter and the nine-month period.

National Gas achieved the biggest growth rates in both periods with a rise of 317.74% and 205.3% in the third quarter and the nine-month period correspondingly.
