Oman stocks close in red

Mubasher: The Muscat Securities Market (MSM) closed Wednesday on a negative note due to falls in the financial and industrial sectors.

The benchmark MSM 30 declined 0.51% or 26.5 points to 5,165.51 points, and the Sharia Index dipped 0.58% or 4.68 points to 807.75 points.

Turnover decreased to OMR 3.42 million from OMR 7.53 million yesterday. Trading volume reached 17.45 million shares exchanged through 840 trades, versus 28.93 million shares exchanged yesterday.

The industrial and financial sectors fell by 0.64% and 0.54%, while services rose 0.14%.

Out of 39 stocks, ten closed in green, nine slipped and the remaining 20 were flat.

Oman Fisheries topped risers by adding 4.26%, while HSBC led the red list with a 6% decrease.

Bank Sohar was the most active share as it made a trading volume of 3.62 million shares exchanged at OMR 543,700, and the share closed at OMR 0.150.

The main index closed yesterday in red after four straight sessions in green.
