Oman trade surplus reaches OMR 560m

Mubasher: Oman’s trade surplus reached OMR 560.4 million by the end of May 2016, according to a reported released on Monday by Omani National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Merchandise exports registered a fall of 28.4% by the end of May this year to OMR 4.23 billion, compared to OMR 5.622 billion in the same period of 2015.

The value of non-oil exports shrank 24.9% by the end of May 2016 to OMR 985.3 million, versus OMR 1.312 billion for the same period last year.

Total imports fell at the end of May 2016 by 22.2% to OMR 660.7 million from OMR 848.8 million for the corresponding period last year.

The Sultanate’s producer price index (PPI) declined 19.1% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2016.
