Mubasher: Oman’s total exports value hit about OMR 5.62 billion by the end of May 2015, versus around OMR 8.43 billion in the same period last year.
The fall in volume of exports is attributed to the decline in values of exports of crude oil and natural gas.
Trade exchange between Oman and the world reached about OMR 10.14 billion until May of this year, against OMR 13.05 billion in the same period year ago.
The Sultanate exported its needs from 102 countries with 20 Arab countries among them; United Arab Emirates topped the exporters with 32.5% of the total Omani imports, followed by Japan and China with 12.2% and 4.8% respectively.
Meanwhile, total imports of the Sultanate reached about OMR 4.53 million in the period ended in May 2015, with a fall of 2% compared to around OMR 4.26 million in the same period last year.
Domestic trade saw a good growth in all included activities, as the wholesale and retail trade forms 2.1% of the total GDP with the current prices, and the additional value of the domestic trade reached about OMR 619.1 million by the end of March 2015, compared to around OMR 606.3 million in the same period of 2014.
